The Horse Village by Horse Conversations is a free learning and discussion community for horse people who want to look beyond methods, labels and quick fixes, and learn to understand the horse in front of them.
Here, we bring together equine behavior, ethology, learning theory, welfare, observation and the human side of the horse-human relationship – embodiment.
Not to find one perfect way of doing horses.
But to become better at seeing, questioning, understanding and making decisions.
You don’t need another horse training method.
You probably already have enough information.
Enough trainers to follow. Enough opinions. Enough systems telling you what your horse should do and how you should make it happen.
What is often missing is something much more fundamental:
understanding why the horse is behaving the way they are in the first place.
Behavior never exists on its own. It is connected to the horse’s body, nervous system, environment, previous experiences, learning history, emotional state and the individual horse standing in front of us.
The Horse Conversations Community is a place to explore all of that together.
We don’t start with:
How do I stop this behavior?
We start with:
What is happening here?
I have worked with and studied horses for more than 15 years, and one thing has become clearer with every year:
The more you understand, the less interested you become in absolute answers.
Good horsemanship is not about knowing everything. It is about becoming better at asking questions, observing carefully and changing your mind when the horse gives you new information.
That is the spirit of this community.
You do not have to be a professional. You do not have to use a certain training method. You do not have to agree with everyone here.
You only need curiosity, respect for horses and a willingness to keep learning.
Because ultimately, we are all students of them.
Ask about your horse
Have you noticed a behavior you don’t understand? A change you cannot quite explain? Something that makes you wonder whether you’re looking at a training issue, stress, discomfort, learning history or something else entirely?
Bring it into the community.
Photos, videos, observations and questions are welcome.
The goal is not to diagnose horses from the internet or hand out instant solutions. Instead, we learn how to separate observation from interpretation and look at the bigger picture before deciding what to do.
Free to join. Valuable if you participate.
The Horse Conversations Community is free.
There is no requirement to keep up with everything and no endless stream of content waiting to make you feel behind.
Come when you have a question.
