When something about your horse doesn’t quite make sense, let’s look closer.
A private 1:1 session with equine behaviourist Carolina to help you understand what may be happening beneath the behaviour – and what actually deserves your attention next.

Maybe there is a behaviour you keep coming back to.
Your horse suddenly doesn’t want to be caught. They become tense when you saddle them. They rush through one exercise but shut down in another. Something in your training keeps getting stuck. Their behaviour has changed and you cannot quite put your finger on why.
Or perhaps there isn’t a dramatic “problem” at all.
You simply have the feeling that there is something about your horse you don’t fully understand yet.
And the more people you ask, the more answers you get.
Be firmer. Use more pressure. Reward more. Ignore it. Correct it. Get their respect. Do groundwork. Change the equipment. Train harder. Train less.
Sometimes what you need is not another method.
You need someone to help you look at the horse in front of you more clearly.
That is what Understand Your Horse is for.
Horse behaviour never exists in isolation.
What we see can be influenced by learning history, environment, previous experiences, physical comfort, stress, emotional state, management, motivation, communication and the situation in which the behaviour occurs.
Two horses can show what looks like the same behaviour for completely different reasons. That is why I don’t begin a session by deciding how your horse should be trained.
We begin with your horse.
We look at what you actually observe, what has changed, when the behaviour occurs, what happens around it and what may be contributing to the situation. Then we work out what deserves attention next. Sometimes that will involve training. Sometimes management. Sometimes your own timing or communication. Sometimes I will recommend that something physical should be investigated before you continue training.
And sometimes the most important outcome is simply understanding your horse differently.
You don’t need to have a “problem horse” to book this session.
You might come because your horse:
Or you may simply want to understand their personality, communication, needs and behaviour more deeply.
Curiosity is reason enough.
You will not leave with a generic training recipe.
You will leave with a clearer understanding of:
what may be happening, what deserves attention first, what not to rush into, and what your practical next steps could be.
After the call, I will send you a concise written summary of the main observations and priorities we discussed so that you don’t have to remember everything from a 90-minute conversation.
The goal is not to make you dependent on another trainer.
The goal is to make the situation clearer enough that you can make better decisions for your horse.
“Carolina helped me a lot with my traumatized Haflinger. She sensitively recognizes the needs of both horse and rider and gives clear tips, such as how to release tension. From the basics to riding without a bit – everything at the horse’s pace. I’m thrilled with the
progress and the harmonious
collaboration!”

I’m Carolina, the author and equine behaviourist behind Horse Conversations.
I have studied and worked with horses for more than 15 years and studied equine behaviour and ethology through ATN Germany. I am also a certified horse-assisted systemic coach, and my work brings together behavioural science, learning theory, welfare, observation and the human side of the horse-human relationship.
I am interested in the place where knowledge meets the individual.
Because knowing what horses generally do is useful.
Understanding this horse, in this environment, with this history, in this moment is where things become more interesting.
I don’t want to teach you how to follow me.
You don’t have to wait until behaviour becomes dangerous or overwhelming before asking for help.
Sometimes the best moment to look closer is when you first find yourself thinking:
“Something here doesn’t quite make sense.”
Bring me that question.
We’ll start there.

“Carolina combines solid expertise with warm, personalized guidance and helped me understand Ofir better and provide him with greater security in challenging situations. We made significant progress in a short time and were able to be out and about together much more calmly. What I found particularly valuable was that I learned a great deal not only about my horse but also about myself, my own limits, and the bond we share.”
